Identity - A close similarity or affinity. "an identity between the company's own interests and those of the local community"
An ident is a bit like a commercial, but not. It is basically a TV channel identifieing themselfs on a smalll like video just before the programme stops. (Etc. a channel airing the simpsons when they said "And now, the simpsons" - thats during an ident)
